Scout Celebration

We had the last Girl Scout meeting of the school year today. We met at a local park; the girls were given the badges they earned during the year AND we had ice cream. I've got a lot of patches to sew on K.'s vest before Scouts start back in the Fall :).

K. had a wonderful experience this year in Brownies. She's not the only one, either. I had fun participating and my 3yo son did, too. M. considered himself an honorary Scout and always referred to the meetings as "his" Boy Scouts, rather than K.'s Girl Scouts. Our wonderful Troop Leader, the incomparable & infinitely patient Leanne, did a terrific job with the girls (and with my little "boy scout"). Not only did she present the badges to the girls, she also was thoughtful enough to present M. with a special little stuffed bear. She made him a very happy little guy!

Grandparents, enjoy the photos!

Later Days!
Kelly

I certainly did enjoy the pictures. I know K and M are going to miss those scout meetings. Congratulations K on getting all those badges. Congratulations M on your prize for your hard work. That was a very thoughtful thing for L to present M with something, too. I'm proud of all of you. Love, Mimi

It's a wonderful organisation isn't it? I admire you for instilling such good values in your children. I feel we are "kindred spirits" - I too took my children to the library, and they too belonged to a similar (Afrikaans) organisation as the girl guides until they were in Grade 12! They loved the camps. I vividly recollect sewing on those badges the night before uniform inspection and getting them skew...
I hope you'll keep on blogging, even if the schools close. Do you go on with your homeschool or do you take a break same as the other schools?

Thanks for the nice comments.
Miekie: summer vacation is just about to start for most of the schoolkids around here but we're running a little behind their schedule since we moved in Oct. We've still got about 30 days left until we've done our 180. Even when we're technically "done," we'll continue to read, go to the library, explore, and learn because we love to! I'm afraid my blogging is somewhat erratic right now because I'm in the final stretch of my own schoolwork; I'm slated to graduate with my Masters of Religious Education in July. However, I intend to keep blogging as I can because it's a good way to keep family and friends informed about our lives. Thank you for being my bloggy friend!
